Enjoy! Celebrate! And if you are a Chicago taxpayer, fear not: Mayor Daley says sponsors are picking up the entire cost of this event:
Chicago taxpayers will not pay one dime for Friday’s ticker-tape parade and rally celebrating the Blackhawks first Stanley Cup victory in 49 years, thanks to the generosity of corporate sponsors, Mayor Daley said today.
"We have sponsors. They made a commitment to do that. And that will be done," he said.
Daley refused to identify the corporations that have agreed to bankroll all city costs associated with Chicago’s first sports title bash since the White Sox won the World Series in 2005.
"We’ll get the list out later so you can write ‘em down and praise ‘em," the mayor said laughing.
