Chicago, IL (Sports Network) – Ian Kinsler’s two-run double highlighted a five-run sixth inning, as the Texas Rangers defeated the Chicago White Sox, 9-6, in the opener of a three-game series at U.S. Cellular Field.
Craig Gentry knocked in two runs while Michael Young added two hits, an RBI and a run scored for the Rangers, who put the brakes on a four-game skid. Justin Smoak hit a solo home run and finished with two RBI while Josh Hamilton added three hits with a run scored in the victory.
Paul Konerko and Gordon Beckham both registered a pair of RBI for inconsistent Chicago, which has alternated wins and losses in its last 10 games overall. Omar Vizquel scored two runs and Carlos Quentin homered in the losing effort.
