Apparently there’s a Mark Buehrle doppelganger on the loose! Or, rather, a Facebook impostor. Someone out there has set up a fake profile under Mark Buehrle’s name and has been suggesting that the Sox pitcher is involved in not quite above board activities. Mark Gonzalez writes,
↵↵↵Buehrle said before Tuesday night’s game that the Facebook page states he is performing some illegal acts. Those allegations have convinced some people, who have voiced their displeasure to his mother about the poor example he was setting for their kids.
↵“They’re definitely not making me look good,” said an obviously upset Buehrle, who has informed Major League Baseball’s security department to investigate the matter.

Hmm. I do feel bad for Buehrle regarding this… the days have long since past when fake Facebook profiles were good for amusement. Now, with hundreds of millions frequenting the site, a profile is assumed to be real… but… I still can’t help but laugh at this story.
↵Let me get this straight… Buehrle first found out about this from his mom?! Doesn’t he have a publicist or an agent who is supposed to be on top of things like this? Even assuming Buehrle’s “people” missed this one, who are these random facebook viewers who have Mark’s mom on speed dial? It’s all just a wee bit odd.
