Phil Jackson: Once And Future Bulls Coach?

Phil Jackson coached the Bulls during their six-title run in the 90’s, but left for Laker pastures when Michael Jordan also left the team after 1998.

Twelve years and four more titles later, there’s some talk that the 64-year-old Jackson might be mulling a return to Chicago:

A report on ESPN.com Monday night said that the Bulls have made contact through ‘’back channels’’ to gauge whether Los Angeles Lakers coach Phil Jackson might be interested in returning to where he began his NBA career, but an NBA source dismissed that as mere speculation.

The article goes on to say that Celtics assistant Tom Thibodeau is a strong candidate — but with the Celtics likely headed to the Finals, that might have to wait. Jackson, of course, could also be off to the Finals soon. Further, the article says that the Bulls would probably have to sign LeBron James before Jackson would consider coming back to Chicago.

Well, why not? Do it. It would be the crowning achievement of Jackson’s career — to win titles with Michael, Kobe and LeBron. The Bulls have wasted a ton of money over the last 12 years. Spend it on two people worth the dollars — Phil and LeBron.
