Perhaps Aware That He Is Losing Love, Gordon Beckham Changes Song

(Via Chicagoist)

Gordon Beckham has decided to change his introductory song. Beckham, in his second year on the Sox, was known for coming up to bat to the tune of 80's hit song "Your Love."

Mired well below the Mendoza Line for the last month, it seems that Beckham will do anything to try to turn things around. Teammate Paul Konerko apparently suggested that Beckham get a bit more aggressive with his intro song, switching things to Metallica's "Search and Destroy."

Well, uh, okay then Gordon. Interesting choice there. Thing is, the lyrics don't exactly seem appropriate. I mean, what is Beckham seeking? Hits? And what is he destroying? Because you know it sure isn't breaking balls. Perhaps illumination can be found in the song's lyrics...

We are scanning the scene
in the city tonight
We're looking for you
to start up a fight
There's an evil feeling in our brains
But it's nothing new
you know it drives us insane

Hmm. Nope. Though you know, Beckham's struggles at the plate and his uncanny ability to tank my fantasy baseball team have in fact been driving me insane. No, I think if Beckham wants to change tunes he should consider something more classic, something that would more properly reflect his performance on the field this season...

And I'm free, free fallin'
Yeah I'm free, free fallin'

And I'm free, free fallin'
Oh!

Free fallin'
And I'm free, oh! free fallin'
