Winter Storms Following Vikings: Tonight's Game With Eagles May Be Postponed

Two weeks ago, the Minnesota Vikings had their game against the New York Giants moved to Ford Field in Detroit because of the collapse of the Metrodome roof.

With repairs not able to be made in time, their home game against the Bears last Monday night was played at TCF Bank Stadium on the campus of the University of Minnesota... in what amounted to an ice storm; field conditions were slippery at best.

Now, with a winter storm expected to bring up to a foot of snow to the Philadelphia area this afternoon and this evening, the NFL is considering the possibility that tonight's Vikings/Eagles game may have to be postponed:

Obviously, football can be played in snow. But in blizzard conditions, the NFL has to ensure that teams, stadium workers and fans can arrive to the stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET, at which point up to a foot of snow might have already fallen. Wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour have also been predicted.
