It's an old trivia question: "What are the only three days of the year when there are no major league professional sports events?"
↵↵The answer used to be, "Christmas Eve and the days before and after the baseball All-Star game." It's still mostly true, although the MLB Home Run Derby now takes place on the day before the All-Star Game in July. And today, the NFL, NBA and NHL are taking the day off. So your one and only choice is college football... and a replay of a Bulls loss, oddly enough.
↵↵6 p.m., ESPN2: College basketball, Cancun Governor's Cup, third place game.
↵↵7 p.m., ESPN: Sheraton Hawaii Bowl, Hawaii vs. Tulsa. Tulsa gets a trip to the islands for the holidays. Hawaii gets to play in their home stadium. Hawaii is four hours behind Chicago time, so game time in Honolulu is 3 p.m. The sun sets there today at 5:56 p.m., so most of the game will be played in sunshine, while it's dark in the Midwest, just reminding you that winter has a long way to go.
↵↵7 p.m., CSN Chicago: NBA, "CSN Classic", Bulls at Suns from 11/24/2010. This was a terrific come-from-behind game that the Bulls won in double overtime.
↵↵8 p.m., ESPN2: College basketball, Cancun Governor's Cup, championship game.
