Tuesday is generally the slowest day of the week for sports TV, but there are a few selections, even though all our local pro teams have the day off.
↵6 p.m., ESPN2: College football, Toledo at Northern Illinois. This is a very important game for the Huskies. They’re tied with Toledo at 5-0 at the top of the MAC West and a win would make them 8-2 and give them a shot at being ranked next week.
↵6 p.m., ESPNU: College basketball exhibition, Northern State at Belmont. This one’s a puzzler. “Northern State” sounds like a school from a TV sitcom. However, the Deep Dish has learned that they are located in Aberdeen, S.D. and their nickname is the “Bluejays”. They’ll face the Belmont Bruins, who call Nashville home. (Probably more than you ever wanted to know.)
↵6:30 p.m., Versus: NHL, Capitals at Rangers. You’ve heard of those teams. Right?
↵6:30 p.m., NBA-TV: Jazz at Heat.
↵9:30 p.m., CSN Chicago: NHL, Ducks at Sharks.
