The new rankings are out and for Boise State fans, they're a disappointment. As regular readers of The Deep Dish know, we're big fans of Boise State, largely because of their stunning victory in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl over Oklahoma.
It's going to take losses from Oregon or Auburn, and probably both, to get Boise State into this year's BCS championship game. With TCU's blowout win over Utah, the ranks of the unbeatens drops to four -- Oregon, Auburn, TCU and Boise State.
That likely sets up an Oregon/Auburn matchup in the BCS title game, unless those teams lose -- and maybe more than once, depending on the opponent. Boise State is probably headed for a Rose Bowl date, which is nice, but ultimately meaningless. Maybe the BCS people will make them play TCU again this year if the two both finish unbeaten, so that one of them would have to lose. When the BCS rankings come out this evening, the top four are likely to be the same as the top four in the two polls just released.
Death to the BCS. Full rankings after the jump.
