For the last several weeks the Deep Dish has been taking up the case for Boise State to make the BCS title game, given their long winning streak (both regular season and bowl game), high ranking, and desire to see the BCS cabal broken up.
Unfortunately, Boise State didn't do its part by, you know, continuing to win. Their dramatic upset loss on Friday night, caused by two missed chip-shot field goal attempts, likely consigns them to play at home this bowl season in the Humanitarian Bowl (seriously, can we come up with better names?). Boise State has dropped precipitously in both major polls.
Meanwhile, the title game matchup will be between Auburn and Oregon, unless one or both lose their final game, an unlikely scenario, in which case TCU might sneak in. This doesn't make the BCS good or right, just lucky.
Locally, Northern Illinois is now ranked in both polls after another big win.
