Former Wolves Goalie Ondrej Pavelec Collapses

UPDATE: The Thrashers website updates the story with good news:

Preliminary tests were negative. He’s awake and alert at the hospital and asking about the score of the game, but will be kept overnight for observation.

Ondrej Pavelec, who played for the AHL Chicago Wolves for most of two seasons from 2007-2009 and who was their goaltender for their championship playoff run in 2008, collapsed tonight while playing goal for the Atlanta Thrashers:

The 23-year-old Pavelec lost consciousness Friday night and was taken to a hospital for further evaluation. [Thrashers GM Rick] Dudley says he probably won't know anything more until after the game.↵

↵There was a whistle at the opposite end of the ice when Pavelec suddenly fell over backward with no one around just 2:25 into the game. His teammates rushed to his aid and immediately called for doctors and a stretcher to be brought to the ice.
