UPDATE: The Thrashers website updates the story with good news:
↵↵Preliminary tests were negative. He’s awake and alert at the hospital and asking about the score of the game, but will be kept overnight for observation.↵↵

Ondrej Pavelec, who played for the AHL Chicago Wolves for most of two seasons from 2007-2009 and who was their goaltender for their championship playoff run in 2008, collapsed tonight while playing goal for the Atlanta Thrashers:
↵↵The 23-year-old Pavelec lost consciousness Friday night and was taken to a hospital for further evaluation. [Thrashers GM Rick] Dudley says he probably won't know anything more until after the game.↵↵↵↵There was a whistle at the opposite end of the ice when Pavelec suddenly fell over backward with no one around just 2:25 into the game. His teammates rushed to his aid and immediately called for doctors and a stretcher to be brought to the ice.
The Deep Dish sends best wishes and hopes for a speedy recovery for Pavelec. Video above from the Thrashers website.
