Jay Cutler Says He Shouldn't Have Bumped J'Marcus Webb

Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler said he shouldn't have bumped offensive lineman J'Marcus Webb on the sidelines during Thursday's loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Cutler was seen yelling at his linemen and bumping Webb on Thursday and has since come under fire from the media and some of his teammates. Cutler finally addressed the issue himself on Tuesday on his WMVP-AM 1000 radio show. Cutler said he shouldn't have bumped Webb, but refused to go any further in issuing any sort of apology.

I probably shouldn’t have bumped him. You know, I’ll go with that. As far as me yelling at him and trying to get him going in the game, I don’t regret that. Shouldn’t have bumped him. I’ll stick to that.

Cutler also said the incident has been put behind them.

It’s just one of the things that happened during a game and since then we’ve talked about it and it’s really behind us.

The Bears host the St. Louis Rams at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Bears Coach Lovie Smith Isn't Upset At D.J. Moore's Criticism Of Jay Cutler

The internal criticism of Jay Cutler following last week's loss has continued to go around, with D.J. Moore being the latest to sound off.

Does head coach Lovie Smith want to put a lid on things? Not exactly.

Asked by Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune if Moore was out of line criticizing Cutler, Smith didn't seem to mind.

"D.J. Moore said that?" Smith said when informed Moore said Cutler was wrong in his actions Thursday night at Green Bay. "I have no problem with any of our guys ... I have a problem with a ‘teammate said or ‘source said.' But if you put your name behind something and you want to voice your opinion, you can voice it. But again for us, it was business as usual today. We're getting our football team better."

Jay Cutler's Latest Critic Is Bill Cowher

Former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher is the latest to lob criticism at Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler for his sideline antics during Thursday night's 23-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Cutler yelled at his teammates and bumped offensive tackle J'Marcus Webb, prompting criticism of the hotheaded QB from several sources, including his own teammates.

Cowher's criticism of Cutler on the CBS pregame show may have been the most severe yet, suggesting that the Bears may be forced to consider getting rid of Cutler if the Bears struggle or he doesn't show more responsibility.

"He’s had some protection issues. I know there’s been some questionable [play] calling. But they brought players in to help this guy win a championship, and he’s going to [have to] prove to be more accountable — not sensationalize every little mistake with his antics and body language.

"He’s a good quarterback. But if he does not change his ways and this team does not go to the playoffs, they have to consider changing. He has to change."

D.J. Moore On Jay Cutler: 'He's Always Been That Way So I Wouldn't Expect Him To Change'

During the Chicago Bears' 23-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday, quarterback Jay Cutler bumped offensive tackle J'Marcus Webb on the sideline. Cutler's actions have already been criticized as unfair by cornerback D.J. Moore in the Chicago Tribune on Monday. Moore followed up in a Q&A later in the day Monday, in which he did not reverse his position on Cutler or paint the quarterback in a good light.

But I mean, just, you know, he is what he is. He's always been that way so I wouldn't expect him to change.

Moore also doesn't expect for Cutler to apologize to the team for his actions:

I think it's just him. That's the type of guy he is. He's not going to hold anything back. So I mean, if he was to talk to the team I guess you would kind of feel weird about it because it's really not just his thing.

Chicago Bears' Young Pass Rushers Off To Hot Start

The Chicago Bears had at least one positive sign in their 23-10 loss the Green Bay Packers on Thursday, and that came in the performance of the young players in the front seven. Rookie linebacker Shea McClellin and third-year defensive end Corey Wootton have both been putting pressure on quarterbacks in the first two weeks.

McClellin finished with four tackles and 1.5 sacks against the Packers, while Wooten posted a 0.5 sack. Wootton also started the season with a sack of Colts quarterback Andrew Luck in the Bears' Week 1 victory over Indianapolis.

The play of McClellin and Wootton is drawing notice from their teammates. Defensive tackle Henry Melton spoke with reporters about the two young pass rushers, according to the Chicago Tribune:

"They are effort players who are relentless," tackle Henry Melton said of McClellin and Wootton. "Their motors are always going. It's good to see Corey healthy. And Shea is just a young guy who never gets tired."

The Bears hope McCellin and Wootton can continue their solid play as they host the St. Louis Rams at Noon CT on Sunday at Soldier Field.

Chicago Bears Bring Back RB Kahlil Bell

Needing depth at running back with starter Matt Forte injured, the Chicago Bears have reportedly re-signed running back Khalil Bell, according to Bell's Twitter account.

Bell was cut by the Bears in the preseason. He's played in 20 games for the team since 2009, rushing for 557 yards on 119 carries in his career.

The Bears will reportedly be without Forte, who sprained his ankle in the third quarter of Thursday's loss to the Green Bay Packers, for up to six weeks. Backup Michael Bush will get the bulk of the carries and he'll be backed up by Armando Allen. Bell will be the third-string running back.

Matt Forte Injury: Bears RB Could Be Out Up To 6 Weeks, According To Report

Matt Forte sprained his ankle in the third quarter of the Chicago Bears' loss to the Green Bay Packers Thursday, and Mark Potash of the Chicago Sun-Times reports he could miss up to six weeks:

The running game was the best thing the Bears had going for them against the Green Bay Packers in their 23-10 loss on Thursday night. But even that facet to their offense is in flux after running back Matt Forte suffered a sprained ankle that could keep him out for 2-6 weeks.

Forte suffered the injury, which ESPN's Adam Schefter reported as the more-debilitating high sprain, when he was tackled by Packers safety Charles Woodson near the Packers' sideline after a 15-yard reception early in the third quarter.

Forte had 31 yards rushing and 49 yards receiving at the time of his injury. Backup Michael Bush is expected to see a significant increase in his workload with Forte out and third stringer Armando Allen could also get an opportunity to contribute.

J'Marcus Webb Responds To Poor Play With Positive Facebook Status

The Packers defense had plenty of success against Jay Cutler and the Bears offense, but perhaps the single player that they took advantage of most was offensive tackle J'Marcus Webb. The starting left tackle for the Bears was utterly out-matched when he lined up against Clay Matthews, allowing 3.5 sacks to the three-time Pro Bowler.

The performance led to a confrontation from Cutler who was seen by cameras yelling at Webb, eventually bumping into the offensive lineman intentionally. Webb updated his Facebook status on Friday, reflecting on the loss in a positive way:

"There Is Nothing Like Having A Bad Game, But When You Have It, You Have To Deal With It Correctly. It's Not How One Deals With A Win. How Does One Deal With A Loss Or Bad Game? I'm No Different Than You. Time To Prepare. Go Bears!"

While an ESPN analyst on Around the Horn called the status update "cryptic" and intimated that it could be referring to Cutler's inability to deal with the situation correctly, the final 10 words seem to negate that possibility.
