For most baseball fans, this weekend's series between the Chicago White Sox and Seattle Mariners was far from an important story. But, the two teams added to a history that has featured more than a handful of bizarre games over the course of the last few years.

As pointed out by Jim Margalus of South Side Sox, Chicago has gone a staggering 24-4 against the Mariners since the beginning of the 2010 season. Those 28 games have included games with massive blown leads, a starting pitcher giving up 11 earned runs, two walk-off homers in one day and a perfect game.

This weekend saw Friday night's wild comebacks and controversial ending, ejections on Saturday and Gavin Floyd leaving Sunday's game before weather shortened it to seven innings.

Just another weird weekend in the world's weirdest sport.

Alex Rios Approaching White Sox Club Record

Alex Rios is not just having a nice bounce back season for the White Sox, he's also on pace to accomplish something that has been done only once in club history: finish a season with at least 20 home runs, 30 doubles, 20 stolen bases and 100 RBI.

"I have been comfortable all season," Rios said. "Coming into spring training they told me I was going back to right field and staying there. That was the biggest difference for me, I felt a nice comfort zone from that point on."

Through Sunday's game against Seattle, Rios has 20 home runs, 30 doubles, 20 stolen bases and 73 RBI.

Mariners Vs. White Sox Final Score: Chicago Wins Rain-Shortened Game 4-3

The Chicago White Sox completed a sweep of the Seattle Mariners with a 4-3 win at U.S. Cellular Field on Sunday. The game was called in the bottom of the seventh inning after bad weather halted play. The White Sox had just taken a one-run lead in the seventh thanks to a two-run home run by Tyler Flowers.

White Sox starting pitcher Gavin Floyd left the game after just two innings because of elbow discomfort; he gave up one run on three hits during the brief start. Hector Santiago took over and pitched the following four innings, giving up two runs on three hits in the process.

The White Sox, who begin a series in Baltimore on Monday, are now 71-55.

White Sox Vs. Mariners Score Update: Rain Delays Game In 7th Inning With Chicago Ahead 4-3

The Chicago White Sox may be on the verge of winning their sixth consecutive game, but will have to wait things out on Sunday. They currently sit in a rain delay at U.S. Cellular Field with the Seattle Mariners.

Although starting pitcher Gavin Floyd inexplicably left the game early with elbow discomfort after just two innings, the White Sox rallied back to take the lead in the seventh on a two-run home run from catcher Tyler Flowers that gave Chicago a 4-3 lead.

Flowers's blast, which came with two outs against Seattle right-hander Kevin Millwood in the bottom of the seventh, represented the sixth of his season and 10th of his career. In line to pick up the victory (should the White Sox hold on to maintain their lead, or if the game is called) is reliever Nate Jones, who pitched a scoreless top half of the seventh to lower his earned-run average to 3.22.

When (if) the game resumes, the White Sox will remain at the plate to bat with Dewayne Wise on first, Ray Olmedo on third and two outs on the scoreboard.

Gavin Floyd Injury: White Sox Pitcher Leaves Sunday's Start With Elbow Discomfort

Chicago White Sox pitcher Gavin Floyd was removed from his scheduled start against the Mariners on Sunday, after the 29-year-old right-hander experienced elbow discomfort after just two innings

Floyd tossed only 30 pitches in the series' decisive game before reporting his elbow pain to coaches, and eventually gave way to White Sox reliever Hector Santiago, a player who may just ascend into the starting rotation should Floyd be forced to miss significant time.

Entering the day with a 9-9 record and higher than expected 4.55 earned-run average, Floyd has been a source of ire for both Chicago fans and coaches as of late for his inconsistent play. The tipping point for many might have been his Aug. 20 outing against the Yankees where he lasted just 2.1 innings and gave up five hits, four walks and three runs in a losing effort.

The team will send Floyd through a gamut of tests to determine the extent of his injury, but there's no denying how truly close the veteran pitcher was to being dropped from the rotation altogether. Even though it's clear the White Sox want Floyd to avoid the disabled list in the coming days, a youngster like Santiago (24 years old) could present a good deal of upside down the stretch.

White Sox Vs. Mariners Game Preview: Chicago Looks To Sweep With Gavin Floyd On The Mound

The Chicago White Sox have held on for two one-run wins in the first games of their series with the Seattle Mariners, and Gavin Floyd (9-9, 4.56 ERA) looks to lead the team to a sweep in today's series finale at 1:05 p.m. CT. Seattle counters with right-hander Kevin Millwood (4-10, 4.29 ERA).

Floyd picked up a loss against the Mariners on June 2, giving up five runs (including four home runs) in five innings. Millwood is 0-2 against the White Sox this season, giving up five runs in 5.2 innings on April 22, and four runs in four innings on June 3.

The White Sox rallied to win the first game of the series after blowing a five-run lead in the top of the ninth Friday. They gave up three runs in the first inning of Saturday's game, but eventually took the lead and held onto it in the sixth inning.

Mariners Vs. White Sox: Chicago Earns Fifth Straight Victory With 5-4 Win

The White Sox stretched their winning streak to five on Saturday with a 5-4 win over the Seattle Mariners to keep command of the American League Central.

The Mariners were the ones that got to scoring first, though, with a three-run home run in the top of the first from Kyle Seager. However, the White Sox pitching was able to stifle the Seattle offense after that, holding them scoreless for the next seven innings.

Meanwhile, the White Sox picked up runs in the first and third innings before taking the lead in the sixth and adding one more run in the eighth.

Seattle attempted a late, two-out rally in the ninth with another Seager home run to close the Chicago lead to one run, but a harmless foul out from John Jaso to third base stranded Justin Smoak on first and ended the game.

Nate Jones earned the win for the White Sox despite throwing just one pitch in relief in the sixth inning and improved his record to 6-0.
