White Sox Trade Tyler Kuhn To Diamondbacks

The Chicago White Sox have traded minor league utility man Tyler Kuhn to the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for cash considerations, as Dan Hayes of CSN Chicago reports. The 25-year-old was a 15th-round pick out of West Virginia by the White Sox in the 2008 draft.

This season, Kuhn has played second base, third base and left field for Triple-A Charlotte, hitting .273/.309/.384 with four homers in 449 plate appearances. He hit much better in 2011, though, posting a .333/.388/.446 line over 568 plate appearances split between Double-A and Triple-A.

It's unclear what Arizona intends to do with Kuhn, but he does give the team some additional flexibility, which is always useful in the National League. He will likely be assigned to the minor leagues initially.

Paul Konerko Injury: White Sox Cautious About Konerko's Concussion, Could DL Trip Be Next?

Chicago White Sox veteran first baseman Paul Konerko did not play in the series finale against the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday night, and that's because the team revealed that the slugger suffered a concussion during Tuesday's game. Manager Robin Ventura referred to the injury as a "mild concussion," but in reality the extent of the injury and the amount of time concussive symptoms will linger are still unknown. With Wednesday off and Thursday as a idle day for the Sox, Konerko will be re-evaluated on Friday and could be headed to the seven-day disabled list. Here is what Ventura said to reporters after the game on Wednesday night:

"There have been some serious things with concussions, so he's got to get evaluated (Friday). There is the seven-day (disabled list) if it's too bad. I don't know if it's there, but he does have a mild one. So it was more of a precaution to keep him out. In no way could he have played (Wednesday). It's just better to keep him out."

Paul Konerko Has A Mild Concussion

Star first baseman Paul Konerko wasn't in the lineup during the Chicago White Sox's 2-1 loss in the series finale vs. the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday night. After the game, manager Robin Ventura revealed why.

Konerko suffered a mid concussion vs. the Royals on Tuesday. Ventura said the veteran will sit out again on Thursday before being reevaluated on Friday for the start of a three-game home series vs. the Oakland A's.

Konerko is having another monster for Chicago. The 36-year is hitting .316 with a .388 on-base percentage and .504 slugging percentage over 377 at-bats thus far. Konerko has 18 homers and 54 runs driven in.

Chicago remains a .5 game in front of the Detroit Tigers in the A.L. Central.

Paul Konerko and Alex Rios weren't in the Chicago White Sox's lineup on Wednesday night, though it seems unlikely manager Robin Ventura thought his team would struggled as much as they did against Kansas Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie. Guthrie had his best outing of the season in leading the Royals to a 2-1 victory in the series rubber match at U.S. Cellular Field. Guthrie allowed only five hits and no runs while striking out six over eight innings. The White Sox fall to 60-50, while Kansas City improves to 47-63.

White Sox starter Jose Quintana allowed just five hits and two earned runs over seven innings, but it wasn't enough. The Royals received solo homers from Mike Moustakas in the second inning and Salvador Perez in the fourth inning to win.

The Chicago White Sox have center fielder Alejandro De Aza and third baseman Kevin Youkilis back in the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Kansas City Royals after the pair sat out of Tuesday's game. Both players are dealing with nagging injuries, so manager Robin Ventura has tried to mix things up as the stretch run comes.

On Tuesday, De Aza sat out of his second consecutive game with back soreness, while Youkilis was a late scratch due to a sore right knee after initially being tabbed to start. Jordan Danks and Ray Olmedo played center field and third base, respectively, in Chicago's 5-2 defeat. Danks is starting again on Wednesday in right field as Alex Rios gets the day off.

The Kansas City Royals scored two in the seventh inning and two in the eight to hand the Chicago White Sox a 5-2 on Tuesday night at U.S. Cellular Field in the middle game of a three-game series. The loss drops the Sox to 60-49 on the season, while Kansas City improves to 46-63.

Sox starter Jake Peavy allowed seven hits and three earned runs over 6.2 innings. Peavy falls to 9-8 on the campaign after walking three and striking out four.

Alex Gordon's seventh inning RBI single put Kansas City up by one before Billy Butler's eighth inning homer, his 22nd of the year, put an exclamation point on the Kansas City victory.

Gordon Beckham hit his 11th home run of the season for the White Sox in the first inning. Adam Dunn also drove in RBI No. 75 during the loss.

He currently sports a .289/.351/.412 slash with 20 steals to his credit, and with him out of the lineup, CF Jordan Danks -- hitting just .308/.317/.333 in his rookie season -- will man De Aza's leadoff spot against the Kansas City Royals.
