The Irish beat USC on Saturday, but Manti Te'o wasn't happy with the way his defense played.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish defeated USC 22-13 on Saturday, securing a place for themselves in the 2013 BCS National Championship game. Despite the victory, Irish linebacker Manti Te'o was not satisfied with the way his defense played against the Trojans.
"We don't like being scored on," Te'o said. "Although it happened, we came back and made sure that it wouldn't happen again."
The Irish defense allowed only one opponent to score more than 17 points during the regular season, and no opponent scored more than 26. Notre Dame finished the year ranked No. 6 nationally in total defense, No. 2 in scoring defense, No. 5 in rush defense and No. 12 in pass efficiency defense.
That defensive performance helped the Irish to a 12-0 record despite some offensive troubles -- the Irish offense scored 20 points or fewer on five different occasions, including one overtime game.
Notre Dame will face the winner of the SEC title game between Alabama and Georgia in the 2013 BCS National Championship.
