The Northwestern Wildcats hold a three-point lead over the Mississippi State Bulldogs at the halfway mark of the Gator Bowl.

The Northwestern Wildcats took a 13-10 lead into the half against the Mississippi State Bulldogs in the Gator Bowl, but Mississippi State has all the momentum. Northwestern got out to a 13-0 lead, but the Bulldogs have closed the gap on a 10-0 run.

Northwestern scored early thanks to an interception of MSU quarterback Tyler Russell that was returned for a touchdown by Quentin Williams. The Wildcats were able to add two field goals from Jeff Budzien before the Bulldogs could put any points on the board. But in the last five minutes of the half, Mississippi State scored twice to narrow the gap to three and take momentum entering the locker room.

Northwestern is leading thanks to three forced turnovers compared to only one committed. The Wildcat defense came up with three interceptions that put them into position to control the game, but the offense failed score a touchdown in the first half. Northwestern also holds a near six-and-a-half minute advantage in time of possession.

The Wildcats will receive the kickoff to start the second half.
