Northwestern Vs. Nebraska Preview: Wildcats Look To Break Losing Streak Against Struggling Cornhuskers

The Wildcats hope to climb out of the bottom of the Big Ten standings, taking on the equally struggling Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Feb 2, 2012 - The Northwestern Wildcats (12-8, 2-6 Big Ten) hope to climb out of the Big Ten basement as they square up against the Nebraska Cornhuskers (11-9, 3-6). Northwestern, having lost three consecutive games -- three consecutive conference games -- look for a bounce-back effort against a Cornhuskers team fighting to stay above .500.

The Thursday night match gets a national audience with ESPN2 broadcasting the contest. And with the nation watching, the Cornhuskers will need serious production from their top offensive weapon, senior G Bo Spencer, who leads the team with 14.9 points per game.

Northwestern, meanwhile, will look for continued excellence from senior F John Shurna (19 PPG, 5.9 rebounds per game) and junior G-F Drew Crawford (17.2 PPG, 4.8 RPG) against a Nebraska basketball team that has not had a winning streak since mid-December.

Gametime: 6:00 PM CST, Feb. 2

Television: ESPN2

Radio: WGN 720 AM
