College Basketball Odds: Is The Big Ten A Safe Bet?

The betting site Bodog has released its first odds for the 2011 college basketball season, and the Big Ten Conference covers the gamut of betting experiences.

↵

First, there is the Ohio St. Buckeyes, ranked 3rd in the preseason AP college basketball rankings, with 15/2 odds -- if betting odds could predict championships, that would be a 13% chance at a big fancy banner.

↵

On the opposite end of the spectrum, there's the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Penn State Nittany Lions who sare 150/1 odds -- the kind of odds that make you wish for Marty McFly's sports almanac.

↵

Heres' the breakdown of the Big Ten's college basketball odds:

↵

Big Ten
Ohio St. Buckeyes: 15/2
Michigan St. Spartans: 28/1
Indiana Hoosiers: 35/1
Michigan Wolverines: 35/1
Illinois Fighting Illini: 75/1
Minnesota Golden Gophers: 75/1
Purdue Boilermakers: 100/1
Iowa Hawkeyes: 150/1
Penn St. Nittany Lions: 150/1

In general, if you want a safe bet, look not further than the ever-good North Carolina Tar Heels -- owners of crazy 7/2 odds.
