Ryan Nowicki Transfer: Penn State Tackle Informs Illinois Head Coach Of Transfer

The embattled Penn St. Nittany Lions football program continues to struggle. According to Richart Obert of the Arizona Republic, OT Ryan Nowicki has officially told the Illinois Fighting Illini staff that he is transferring:

Nowicki, a three-star offensive lineman out of Glendale, Arizona, spent the 2011 NCAA season as a redshirt. The 6-foot-5, 280 lbs. lineman received a number of accolades coming out of high school, including a No. 31 prep tackle in the nation ranking from Rivals.com.

With the Penn State football program undergoing heavy sanctions for the Sandusky scandal, many players have elected to take advantage of the NCAA's offered amnesty regarding transfers. Nowicki himself had been a subject of transfer rumors for some time.
