Jabari Parker, one of the nation's most highly sought-after basketball recruits, added to his already impressive accolades on Thursday afternoon. According to the Chicago Sun-Times prep basketball writer, Micahel O'Brien, the incoming senior at Simeon Career Academy apparently got the news while in school on Thursday:
Jabari Parker named Gatorade National Player of the year today, Alonzo Mourning was supposed to surprise him in class today with the news— Michael O'Brien (@michaelsobrien) April 12, 2012
Parker attends the same school that NBA superstar PG Derrick Rose attended for high school. Parker has considered, among other schools, the University of Illinois basketball team, but has yet to make a commitment for after his graduation in 2013.
