After speaking with every team in the SEC with the exception of the Arkansas Razorbacks, as well as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Florida State Seminoles and other smaller schools in the South, Illinois Fighting Illini fullback Jay Prosch has decided to transfer to the Auburn Tigers, according to Illini head coach Tim Beckman.

With Illinois moving away from a pro-style offense, and with his mother battling brain cancer, the time is right for Jay Prosch to leave the Illini.
Prosch was looking exclusively at southern schools in order to be closer to his mother, who is currently battling brain cancer at the family's home in Mobile, Ala. Prosch was also set to be a square peg in a round hole in Champaign as the Illini move to a spread offense that features little emphasis on the fullback position. Though Auburn has run the spread under ex-offensive coordinator Gus Malzahan, it's unclear in which direction Gene Chizik's offense will be headed as the Tigers look for a new coordinator. If they do indeed stick with something resembling Malzahan's offense, Prosch may find himself in an H-back role not unlike that of Phil Lutzenkirchen.
