As No. 16 seed, the DePaul Blue Demons will face the ninth-seeded Connecticut Huskies on Tuesday in the first round of the Big East Conference Tournament after finishing the regular season at the bottom of the conference standings. DePaul ended its season by blowing out Seton Hall, but it was just the third win of the year for the school against a Big East foe.
Now, DePaul will have to take on defending national champion UConn in the first round of the tournament. The top eight teams in the regular season standings all receive a bye from the first round of the tournament, while the top four teams receive an additional bye into the quarterfinals.
The winner of DePaul-UConn will go on to face No. 8 seed West Virginia in the second round. The winner of that game will proceed to play No. 1 seed Syracuse, the consensus No. 2 team in the nation behind Kentucky, in the quarterfinals.
