The DePaul Blue Demons were unable to pull off the win against Ole Miss on Thursday night, dropping the team to 4-2 on the season.
The DePaul Blue Demons are hosting the Ole Miss Rebels as they hope to win for the third time in a row, but they're trailing 42-28 at halftime on Tuesday night. The game was close for most of the first half, with a Krys Faber jumper cutting the Rebels' lead to 25-23 at one point. But the Rebels closed out the half on a 17-5 run, and have a sizable lead now going into the second half.
Ole Miss was led in the first half by an impressive performance from forward Murphy Holloway. The junior scored 14 points on 6-for-8 shooting while adding seven rebounds, two steals and an assist, as well. The Rebels shot 61 percent from the field, making up for a brutal 3-for-12 performance from the free throw line.
It's been an abysmal shooting performance by DePaul so far. The Blue Demons are just 7-for-29 (24 percent) from the field so far, but they've taken advantages of their opportunity at the charity stripe by going 12-for-14 there. They're going to need to shoot much better in the second half if they want any chance of making a comeback, though.

Ole Miss Vs. DePaul Final Score: Comeback Falls Short, Blue Demons Lose 70-68
The DePaul Blue Demons fashioned a pretty good comeback in the second half of Thursday night's game against the Ole Miss Rebels, even taking a 68-66 lead with just 25 second left, but couldn't hold on as the Rebels won 70-68 at Allstate Arena.
Despite trailing for essentially the entire second half, the Blue Demons took a 67-66 lead with 39 second left on a layup from Brandon Young. The guard actually had a chance to make it a three-point play, but missed the free throw. This was just the beginning of the woes from the charity stripe for DePaul. Cleveland Melvin grabbed an offensive rebound on Young's miss from the line, but he was only able to connect on one of his two attempts from the line.
After Jarvis Summers knocked down a jumper for Ole Miss to tie the game at 68, Jeremiah Kelly missed consecutive free throws for DePaul with the lead on the line, handing the ball back to the Rebels. Murphy Holloway scored what proved to be the game-winning basket on a layup with 12 seconds left, and the Blue Demons couldn't even get off a shot on the other end before turning the ball over. It was a pretty disappointing end to what had been an impressive comeback, with DePaul missing four free throws and committing two turnovers in the final 30 seconds with the game on the line.
