White Sox pitcher Jake Peavy is confident that if Chicago can get into the playoffs, they can make some noise.
With the Chicago White Sox in a race for their playoff lives, starting pitcher Jake Peavy is confident that he and his teammates can get the job done. According to Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune, Peavy thinks that if the White Sox can get into the playoffs, they will be a factor:
"We can play with any team in baseball on any given day. I'd love to have a chance to be in the playoffs."
The White Sox begin a four-game set against the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday, and both teams have everything to play for. The White Sox are a game behind the Detroit Tigers for the AL Central, while the Rays are three games out of the final Wild Card spot. Peavy takes the hill for Chicago on an extra day of rest to face James Shields, and Peavy anticipates a close game:
"I'm up against James Shields. Runs are going to be at a premium, which most of our games runs are."
First pitch is 7:10 p.m. CT.
