White Sox Starter Jose Quintana Aided By Extra Rest

Stay connected for news and updates

The Chicago White Sox have tried to aid their pitching staff in 2012 by giving its starters extra rest, and Jose Quintana is the latest pitcher to benefit from the strategy. Quintana will start for Chicago in its crucial Monday makeup game vs. the Detroit Tigers, and he'll be doing so on an extra two days of rest.

"It actually does feel good about this time of the season to get a couple of extra days," said Quintana, who will try to beat the Tigers for the second time in eight days. "It gives your arm a little bit more strength, so I'll feel good for (Monday)."

Quintana was successful in his lone start vs. the Tigers this season, allowing only seven hits and a single earned run over 7.2 innings. He also struck out seven batters and walked only one.
