Chicago White Sox SP Gavin Floyd struggled against the powerful Los Angeles Angels lineup on Saturday, but Chicago managed to keep in the game until the top of the 10th inning, when RP Matt Thornton (L, 4-7) gave up the lead and the Sox lost 6-5.
Floyd lasted 6 and 1/3 innings, but he allowed 5 earned runs on 8 hits, 3 walks and 1 home run, while striking out 6. Meanwhile, 3B Kevin Youkilis went 2 for 3 with a pair of home runs and a walk, and C A.J. Pierzynski managed to crank his 20th homer of the season in his 5 ABs.
The Sox collected a pair of runs off RP LaTroy Hawkins to tie the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the 7th inning, but Thornton allowed a two-out double and single to put Los Angeles up by 1, leading to the 6-5 loss.
