Tyler Flowers Will Return To The White Sox On Saturday

Stay connected for news and updates

The absence of backup catcher Tyler Flowers is expected to last just one day, as Comcast Sports Network Chicago is reporting that the catcher will return to the team for Saturday's game against the Detroit Tigers.

Flowers was placed on the paternity list on Thursday night, following a 5-3 loss to the Baltimore Orioles, so that he could attend the birth of his first child. On Friday, his wife gave birth to Mia Therese Flowers.

In replacement of Flowers, the White Sox purchased the contract of Triple A-Charlotte player, Hector Gimenez, who singled in his only at-bat. Flowers is batting .231 on the season and has 10 RBIs. He had a six-game hit streak broken up by the Orioles on Wednesday.
