Jake Peavy Over Eye Infection, Will Be Ready For White Sox Vs. Tigers Opener On Friday

Chicago White Sox starter Jake Peavy was scratched from his scheduled start on Wednesday after he went to a local hospital Tuesday due to an infection in his right eye, but the issue has cleared up and now the veteran says he's ready to return to the mound on Friday against the Detroit Tigers.

It's a big series for the White Sox, who hold a three-game lead over the Tigers in the AL Central heading into Thursday's games. The Sox will send Francisco Liriano to the mound Saturday and Chris Sale on Sunday (Sale gets a marquee matchup against Justin Verlander) for the three-game set against Detroit.

A hospital trip sparked by impaired vision doesn't sound good, but CSN-Chicago has some calming footage of a healthy-looking Peavy discussing his quick recovery in his own words:
