The Chicago White Sox announced that starting pitcher Gavin Floyd was moved to the 15-day disabled list Tuesday afternoon. Dan Hayes had the news on Twitter:

Floyd left his last start on Sunday against the Seattle Mariners after two innings because of a right elbow flexor strain. The DL move is retroactive to August 27; Floyd also hit the disabled list from July 17-23 with the same injury. The 29-year-old right-hander has a 9-9 record and 4.55 ERA in 2012.
Dylan Axelrod, recalled from Triple-A Charlotte, will start for the White Sox on Wednesday. The 27-year-old is 7-5 with a 2.88 era in 15 AAA starts this season. Axelrod has pitched 38.1 innings at the major league level in 2012, and has a 5.63 ERA and 1.46 WHIP.
