White Sox Vs. Mariners Final Score: Konerko's Controversial Walk-Off Double Powers Chicago To Victory

The Chicago White Sox had the type of game on Friday night that might make people wonder if the team really is destined. The White Sox waltzed into the ninth inning of Friday night's game with a 7-to-2 lead over the Seattle Mariners, but it all went haywire from there. The Mariners scored six runs in the ninth -- three off of closer Addison Reed -- to go up 8-to-7 and leave the Chicago crowd speechless.

It didn't take the White Sox long to storm back off Mariners closer Tom Wilhelmsen, though. Gordon Beckham singled to third to start the inning, which was followed by a Dewayne Wise walk. Kevin Youkilis then singled to center to score Beckham and tie the game, and after an Adam Dunn fly out, Paul Konerko doubled Wise home to win the game in controversial fashion.

Konerko belted a ball to deep right center, and it was hauled in by right fielder Eric Thames as he sprinted towards the outfield wall. He then collided with centerfielder Michael Saunders, and as the two fell to the ground, Thames' arm swung around and the ball squirted loose from his glove. Mariners manager Eric Wedge came out to argue that Thames caught the ball, but it was to of no avail.

Both team will be back in the field on Saturday night at 6:05 CT.
