Ichiro Trade: Chicago White Sox Showed Interest In Outfielder

According to CSN Chicago's Dan Hayes, the White Sox asked the Mariners about Ichiro Suzuki and were told that the veteran outfielder was not available. Ichiro was traded to the New York Yankees on Monday.

Suzuki is hitting just .261/.288/.353 in 2012, and it is unclear what sort of role he would have filled for the White Sox, whose starting outfielders have been more productive (in terms of OPS) than Ichiro this season.

The White Sox open a series against the Twins on Monday night.
