White Sox Roster: South Side Calls Up Former Cubs Prospect LHP Donnie Veal

He may be relegated to just situational relief in his impending stint with the Chicago White Sox, but lefty RP Donnie Veal was at one time a top prospect in the Chicago Cubs farm system, rated as having the franchise's best curveball. According to CSN Chicago, Veal will join the White Sox at Fenway Park on Thursday night, marking only his second stint in the majors since being drafted in 2006.

Veal has pitched 41 and 1/3 innings for the Triple-A Charlotte team, owning an impressive 2.18 ERA and 2.64 FIP. In his previous appearance in the majors -- with the 2009 Pittsburgh Pirates -- Veal featured a low-90s fastballs, a mid-70s curveball and an occasional mid-80s changeup.
