The Chicago White Sox slugged their way to a 7-5 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night, and they may have to do so again on Wednesday night. That's because their starting pitcher, Pedro Hernandez, will be making his first career start, and first career starts have been made in many places for friendly to pitchers than Fenway Park.
In five minor league seasons, the 23-year-old Hernandez has put up a 3.42 ERA and 1.23 WHIP in 423 innings. In 13 starts across Double-A and Triple-A this season, Hernandez has posted a 2.90 ERA in 80.2 innings. In those 80.2 innings he's only struck out 48 batters, but he's also only walked 19. Despite those results, Hernandez was not on Keith Law's list of Top 10 White Sox prospects.
Starting for Boston will be lefty Felix Doubront.
Game date/time: Wednesday, July 18, 6:10 p.m. CT
Location: Fenway Park, Boston, Mass.
TV: CSN
