Astros Vs. White Sox Preview: Chris Sale Can Get Chicago Back On Track

The Chicago White Sox are 2-4 in their last six games and they started interleague play with an 8-3 loss to the Houston Astros, but lefty Chris Sale (7-2, 2.30 ERA) takes the mound on Saturday as the Sox try to get back on track. He has not given up more than three earned runs in any start this season, and over the last 23.1 innings he has allowed just three total runs while striking out 29 batters and walking just six.

The Astros have built their 25-33 record on home successes, so they are especially vulnerable on the road. Away from Minute Maid Park they are just 7-19 this season. Jordan Lyles (1-1, 4.97 ERA) will take the mound for Houston. Here is a bit on Lyles from the South Side Sox series preview:

Jordan Lyles hasn't been able to strike hitters out at a good rate above AA (excepting his small stint in AAA this year). You're going to have a hard time succeeding with a K/BB ratio under two, especially when you're prone to homeruns. Watching him match up with Chris Sale tomorrow will be interesting in a sad way. Lyles has a four-seamer and a sinker in the low-90s, a curveball, a cutter, and a changeup.

Game Time: Saturday, June 9, 7:10 p.m. CT

Location: U.S. Cellular Field, Chicago, IL

Broadcast: WGN
