There was plenty of excitement surrounding the Chicago White Sox debut of new third baseman Kevin Youkilis on Monday night, but the South Siders' offense was hardly improved. The Minnesota Twins handed the Sox a 4-1 loss at Target Field in the series opener of the three-game set. Chicago falls to 38-35 in the loss, while Minnesota drops to 30-42.
Jake Peavy didn't have his best stuff for Chicago, but the veteran righty battled throughout on Monday. Peavy falls to 6-4 after allowing 10 hits and three earned runs while striking out seven for the Sox.
The Twins scored one in the first, two in the second and one in the seventh. The first three hitters in the Minnesota lineup finished with a combined nine hits.
Youkilis went 1-for-4 in his Chicago debut with a single in the eighth inning.
