The Chicago White Sox's Kosuke Fukudome experiment would appear to be over. The South Siders designated Fukudome for assignment on Friday after the reserve outfielder hit .171 with no homers and four RBI in 41 at-bats for the South Siders.

The Sox inked Fukudome this offseason after the outfielder had a whirlwind stint the team's crosstown rivals to the North. The Cubs signed Fukodome to a four-year, $48 million contract before the 2008 season. Fukudome was mostly underwhelming for the Cubs, but did have a respectable 2010 season by posting .810 OPS to go along with plus-defense in the outfield.
The move means Jordan Danks could be sticking around for a while. The younger brother of injured Opening Day starter John Danks has five hits in 13 plate appearances this season.
