Chris Sale Injury: White Sox Pitcher To Undergo MRI On Left Elbow

Chicago White Sox pitcher Chris Sale is going to have an MRI on his left elbow after experiencing soreness during his first extended stint as an MLB starter, as ESPN Chicago reports. The White Sox are moving Sale to the closer role after he experienced tenderness in his elbow while starting, but now there's a chance he may get shut down.

Speaking with ESPN's Jim Bowden, White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper said that Sale is dealing with soreness in his elbow, so the team is having him undergo an MRI before they determine his long-term status. Sale has said that he still wants to be a starter in the long-term, but we've seen guys before that simply can't handle the workload.

One thing that wasn't never really in question was Sale's ability to succeed as a starter. In five starts for the White Sox this season, he posted a 2.81 ERA with 29 strikeouts and eight walks over 32 innings.
