When the Chicago White Sox host the Cleveland Indians on Friday night, Chicago starter Jose Quintana will be making his first ever MLB start in place of the injured John Danks. Quintana was tabbed as the starter for the game recently after the team placed Danks on the disabled list with soreness in his left shoulder.
The White Sox have already played two series against the Indians this season, posting a 3-4 record against the AL Central leaders. At the moment, Chicago is four games behind Cleveland in the division, so they can make significant ground in the standings during this weekend's series.
Quintana, 23, made his MLB debut with Chicago earlier this season in a relief role, pitching 5.2 shutout innings in a 8-6 loss against Cleveland on May 7. He's made nine starts for Double-A Birmingham this year, posting a 2.77 ERA with 41 strikeouts and 14 walks over 48.2 innings.
