2012 Cubs Roster: Travis Wood Replaces Chris Volstad In Rotation

Chris Volstad has been struggling as a starter for the Chicago Cubs in 2012, and now the team has decided to give someone else a shot. Travis Wood has been called up from triple-A Iowa to join the rotation in Volstad's place.

The Cubs finally ran out of patience with Volstad, who’s 0-6 with a 7.46 ERA and hasn’t delivered on the potential they saw when they included him in the Carlos Zambrano trade with the Miami Marlins last winter.

Travis Wood – a centerpiece to the Sean Marshall deal with the Cincinnati Reds – will take Volstad’s spot in the rotation and make his next start Tuesday against the Houston Astros.

Wood is 3-3 with a 4.57 ERA for Iowa this season.
