White Sox Vs. Athletics: Paul Konerko Launches 400th Career Home Run

Chicago White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko not only tied up the game with his home run in the ninth inning against the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday afternoon, he pushed himself up to 400 career home runs over his 16-year career.

Konerko, 36, has proven to be one of the most consistent power hitters in all of baseball since taking over as the White Sox starting first baseman in 1999. The numbers he's averaged annually since then are simply impressive: a .284 batting average, .361 on-base percentage, 28 doubles and 30 homers over 147 games. Over a 12-year period, few hitters have been as prolific.

But as much as anything, Konerko has been through thick and thin with the White Sox. A hero of the 2005 World Series champion team, Konerko has hit 393 of his 400 homers in a White Sox uniform since being acquired from the Cincinnati Reds in 1998 in exchange Mike Cameron. It's been one impressive career by Paulie.
