White Sox Vs. Rockies Recap: Lefty Prospect Pomeranz Silences Chicago Offense

Stay connected for news and updates

The Chicago White Sox (12-17) could not solve the young prospect LHP Drew Pomeranz on Saturday afternoon, looking lost in the 3-1 win for the Colorado Rockies (16-12).

Pomeranz (W, 3-0) pitched 6.0 solid innings and allowed only 4 hits, 1 walk and 1 ER while striking out 2 White Sox batters -- lowering his spring ERA to an impressive 0.53. The White Sox did get some encouraging signs from a pair of their elder statesmen, however, as 1B Adam Dunn continued his hot spring with a 2 for 4 outing, including his 5th home run of the spring, and DH Paul Konerko had a 1 for 3 day with his first (and likely only) triple of the spring.

Pitching for the White Sox, LHP John Danks (L, 0--4) made very few mistakes on the day. He completed 6.0 innings with 2 K, 3 H and 1 ER, but still got tagged for his fourth exhibition loss at the hands of a sputtering White Sox offense and bullpen.

Chicago retakes the diamond on Sunday afternoon when the square off against the Cincinnati Reds at 3:05 p.m. CDT.
