White Sox reaction: Could Brandon McCarthy be offseason target?

Kelley L Cox-US PRESSWIRE

Could the Chicago White Sox have their eyes on starting pitcher Brandon McCarthy?

The Chicago White Sox had a promising season, but now the focus is on who will be returning and which new faces will be with the team for the 2013 season. The team will most definitely be looking for starting pitching during the free agency period, and there are some solid options out there. One such option could be Oakland A's starting pitcher Brandon McCarthy, as noted by SB Nation's South Side Sox.

They link a post from Susan Slusser of SFGate.com, in which she notes that McCarthy is drawing "immediate interest," and that numerous teams are seeking starting pitching, including the White Sox, Cubs and Blue Jays. Now, it's not clear if this means that the White Sox are, in fact, looking to McCarthy and have expressed interest, or if they just fit the profile of a team that should be interested.

McCarthy went 7-4 in 2012, with a 3.24 ERA and 73 strikeouts against 24 walks. He did go through some very serious injury concerns but he looks ready to go for next season. His interest will likely be all over the place.
