White Sox vs. Indians: Chicago plays on after being eliminated

Stay connected for news and updates

The Chicago White Sox were eliminated from postseason contention on Monday night, but will carry on and take on the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday night. Jake Peavy (11-12, 3.37 ERA) is taking the mound in what could be his final start in a White Sox uniform, and he'll take on Justin Masterson (11-15, 5.03 ERA).

The White Sox hold a $22 million option on Peavy for 2013, but many expect the team to not exercise that option and allow Peavy to enter free agency. Peavy said he hasn't spoken with management about coming back, but would like to remain in Chicago if the situation is right.

Chicago beat up on the Indians to the tune of an 11-0 score on Monday night, but Detroit's 6-3 victory over the Royals eliminated them. This marks the fourth straight year that the White Sox have missed the playoffs.

First pitch from Progressive Field is 6:05 p.m. CT. The game can be seen locally on CSN.
