Hernandez Pitches Complete Game In Victory

Philip Humber had another excellent start for the White Sox, but it wasn’t enough as the Sox dropped another winnable game to open their road series against Seattle.

Humber pitched seven innings and gave up just two runs on three hits and three walks. He struck out four. But it still wouldn’t be enough. The White Sox struck first, as singles by Juan Pierre and Alexei Ramirez and a sacrifice fly by Paul Konerko tallied the first run of the game. But the Mariners would answer in the bottom of the sixth on RBI doubles by Milton Bradley and Justin Smoak.

The Sox tied the game in the top of the seventh and managed to keep it close until Matt Thornton came into the game. Thornton gave up three singles, which would be just enough to score Adam Kennedy and win the game for the Mariners. Thornton ended up with a loss on the night, while Philp Humber got a no decision.

The Sox will once again try to rebound on Saturday night at Seattle. First pitch is at 8:10 P.M., CDT.

Sox Take To Road To Face Mariners

The White Sox will leave Chicago after their disappointing homestead and return to the road to try to right their ship. They'll send Philip Humber to the mound to take on Seattle's Felix Hernandez.

Humber is coming off a hard luck start against Baltimore in which he allowed just two runs over seven innings but was still denied the win. On the season he's 2-3 with a 3.06 ERA and 0.96 WHIP. He's pitched only one inning against Seattle in the past, and has a 0.00 ERA and 1.00 WHIP from that appearance.

Going for the Mariners will be Felix Hernandez. Hernandez has started the season well, and is 3-2 with a 3.21 ERA and 1.17 WHIP. In his career against the White Sox, he's 2-3 with a 3.09 ERA and 1.29 WHIP. Paul Konerko is the only member of the lineup to have any success against King Felix, and he's .278 against him with a home run.

The weather in Seattle is forecast to be cloudy and rainy, with a game time temperature in the low 50's. First pitch is at 9:10 P.M., CDT, and the game will be televised on CSN.
