Gordon Beckham Injured By Relay Throw

Mark Buehrle gave up just three runs over seven innings, turning in yet another quality start, but wound up with the loss as the Sox had the tables turned on them. Buehrle was mostly matched by Jays starter Kyle Drabek, who pitched 6 2/3 innings, giving up just two earned runs in that span.

Most of the damage Buehrle suffered on the night came because of big hits at the wrong times. In the first inning, the Jays scored when Juan Rivera hit an RBI double. The fourth inning saw Rajai Davis hit an RBI triple, and in the seventh inning Buehrle gave up yet another RBI double, this time to Yunel Escobar.

The White Sox managed to get two runs off of Drabek, one coming after Juan Pierre reached on a triple and was scored by an Alex Rios sac fly in the fourth, and the other coming after Carlos Quentin walked with the bases loaded. But that was all the Sox would get, unable to make up a two run deficit in the end of the game.

The Sox also suffered a blow when Gordon Beckham was hit in the face by a relay throw from right field. He suffered swelling and underwent x-rays, though his status for future games is not yet known.

Saturday the two teams will play the final game of the series in Toronto. First pitch is at 12:07 P.M., CDT.

White Sox Go For Two As Buehrle Takes Mound Against Jays

After a classic pitchers duel on Thursday night, the White Sox are hoping their bats can come to life on Friday to help Mark Buehrle notch another win on the season.

Buehrle has righted his ship a bit after a string of losses in late April and May. He's now 4-3 with a 3.92 ERA and 1.35 WHIP on the year, and is coming off of a start against the Dodgers in which he gave up just two runs over seven innings pitched. In his career against Toronto, Buehrle is 5-3 with a 2.74 ERA and 1.10 WHIP. Jose Bautista is 4-for-16 against Buehrle with a double and a home run.

Pitching for Toronto will be Kyle Drabek. Drabek was off to a hot start on the year, but had a few hiccups in his last several trips to the mound. He's coming off a start against Houston in which he gave up three runs on eight hits over six innings, but still took the loss. On the season he's 3-3 with a 4.34 ERA and 1.66 WHIP. Over his career against the Sox he's 1-1 with a 4.63 ERA and 1.54 WHIP.

The weather in Toronto is forecast to be cloudy and cool, with a game time temperature in the upper 50's. First pitch will be at 6:07 P.M., CDT, and the game will be televised on CSN.
