Danks Falls To 0-6 On The Season

Though it seemed an opportune time for John Danks to snag his first win of the season — coming off a decent start at Minnesota, with the team on an offensive roll — it was not to be on Tuesday night as his poor start cost the White Sox yet another game in the 2011 season.

Danks has been up and down all year, often having the misfortune of being up when the team as a whole has been down, but the loss on Tuesday was all on him. His line on the night read six earned runs on ten hits in just five innings pitched. He struck out four and walked two. Danks got into trouble early, giving up three runs in the bottom of the first inning as the Angels put together a string of singles. He would give up more runs later in the game on a Macier Izturis home run and RBI hits by Alberto Callaspo and Howie Kendrick.

Meanwhile, the resurgent Sox offense was largely silenced by Joel Pineiro, who threw 7.2 innings and gave up just two runs on eight hits, while striking out five. The only offense came from a Paul Konerko home run and an Adam Dunn RBI double.

The Sox will try to close out the series on a high note on Wednesday night. First pitch will be at 9:05 P.M., CDT.

Sox Go For Four In A Row On The West Coast

Heading into Tuesday night's game at Anaheim, the White Sox are on a season high three game win streak. Now, John Danks will start for the Sox and try to get his first win of the season.

Danks, at 0-5 with a 3.83 ERA and 1.34 WHIP, is coming off another hard luck loss against Minnesota, in which he gave up only three runs on eight hits over eight innings, but was still denied the win. In his career versus Los Angeles, Danks is 3-3 with a 2.56 ERA and 1.14 WHIP. Bobby Abreu has hit him well, with a .286 average against him and two home runs.

Pitching for the Angeles will be Joel Pineiro. Pineiro has only started two games this year, but has been excellent across them. He's currently 1-0 with a 0.71 ERA and a 0.95 WHIP. In his career against the Sox, he's 2-5 with a 4.86 ERA and 1.30 WHIP. Adam Dunn has hit him well, and is 5-for-16 with one double and three home runs.

The weather in L.A. is expected to be sunny with a game time temperature in the low-60s. First pitch is at 9:05 P.M., CDT, and the game will be televised on CSN.
