The Chicago Fire were defeated 2-0 by the Los Angeles Galaxy on Sunday at Toyota Park. The Galaxy were without star David Beckham, but another player with a long and proud international career carried the day. Robbie Keane, on his 32nd birthday, scored both goals to move Los Angeles to 7-10-2 on the year. The Fire fall to 8-6-4.
Chicago already fired three shots on goal, all in the second half. A handball call on Fire defender Kalil Anibaba gave Keane a penalty kick in the 24th minute, which the striker successfully converted. Keane would add his second goal in the 78th minute off a beautiful feed from teammate Landon Donovan.
The Fire managed only three shots on goal, all of which came in the second half.
