MLB Rumors 2012: Jon Heyman Lists Four Cubs That Could Be Dealt In August

Stay connected for news and updates

The MLB trade deadline is going to pass in a couple of days, but CBS Sports' Jon Heyman lists four players from the Chicago Cubs that could still be dealt in August. Players can still be traded past the deadline if they pass through waivers, and Heyman sees a few possibilities for the North Siders.

Heyman lists 25 players overall, with Cubs left fielder Alfonso Soriano topping the entire list. The veteran outfielder's contract is well-known at this point, but his performance has actually left the Cubs with the perfect August trade candidate: an overpaid veteran that's playing well on team that's willing to eat most of his contract.

In addition to Soriano, Heyman also lists catcher Geovany Soto, outfielder David DeJesus and reliever Carlos Marmol as possible August trade options. The team also has a few players that could be dealt before the deadline, but presumably not after, including Matt Garza, Ryan Dempster, Darwin Barney, Paul Maholm and Bryan LaHair.
