Alfonso Soriano Rumors: At Least One Team Has Inquired On The Cubs' Left Fielder

At least one big league club has contacted the Chicago Cubs this summer to discuss left fielder Alfonso Soriano, as Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports reports. Soriano has played extremely well this year, emerging as one of the most productive outfield bats that's potentially available this summer.

Over 364 plate appearances this year, Soriano has hit .274/.324/.503 with 19 homers, a solid rebound from his essentially league average offensive performance last season. He's been especially good of late, though, hitting .286/.347/.597 with 13 doubles and 17 homers in 56 games since May 19.

Morosi speculates that the Los Angeles Dodgers, Cleveland Indians, San Francisco Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates could all be fits for Soriano's power bat, but money would likely be an issue with each team. Soriano has roughly $6 million remaining on his salary for 2012, plus he's owed $36 million for two more additional seasons.
