Matt Garza Trade Rumors: Dodgers Shifting Focus To Cubs Starter Garza

Stay connected for news and updates

The Los Angeles Dodgers are changing their focus from SP Ryan Dempster to SP Matt Garza. Bruce Levine of ESPN Chicago is reporting the Dodgers might prefer Garza, despite nearly completing a trade for Dempster on Friday night.

Garza, 28, was pulled from his Saturday start with an arm injury, but the injury does not appear to be overly serious. In his second season with the Cubs, Garza owns a 3.91 ERA and 4.14 FIP through 103 and 2/3 innings.

Demspter, 35, is having a career year with the Cubs, his final year under contract. He sports a 2.11 ERA and 3.28 FIP through 98 innings. The Cubs as a team currently have a 38-54 record and have little chance for reaching the 2012 MLB Playoffs.
